You can get to Nova Scotia several ways including by plane, train (VIA Rail) or by car. However, cruising has become a popular way for tourists to discover what Nova Scotia has to offer.
According to the Port of Halifax in 2011, 19 major cruise lines docked ships in Halifax. In 2010, 127 ships in total brought 261,216 visitors to our shores.
Halifax is a unique port as it gives passengers many tour options (Halifax City Tours, Peggy' Cove, Lunenburg, Annapolis Valley Winery Tours and many more to choose from). Each ship is greeted with Bagpipes and Drums by the 78th Highlanders. The most popular time to cruise to Nova Scotia seems to be in September and October, while the fall colours are the most vibrant.
